About our 2014 Partner: Asian Community Mental Health Care Services (ACMHS)

Asian Community Mental Health Services (ACMHS) is a East-Bay based non-profit organization that provides multilingual and multi-cultural services in behavioral health care, developmental disabilities services, youth counseling, and family support services. ACMHS was founded 40 years ago as the first organization to provide mental health services to the growing low income Asian and Pacific Islander (API) immigrant community in Alameda County. It has now grown to a staff of more than 100 that serves over 3000 persons per year. Mental health stigma is still one of the biggest challenges facing the API community.  ACMHS aims to provide outreach through education on wellness practices and improve access to culturally competent services. Through prevention and early intervention programs, ACMHS reaches a wide range of age groups and provides counseling, youth programs, and peer assistance networks.
